Coco Grill & Bar

Directions

Michel Péclard's grill by Paradeplatz is back after a renovation, with a maximalist, art-filled interior and a new menu of comfort classics from around the world.

After a short renovation, Coco reopened on 3 October with a new look. Dark furniture and wooden walls are covered with pictures – an art collection curated by Zürich's Musée Visionnaire, and for sale – while skylights let in fresh air. The Salon Rouge is all deep red with pink blossoms hanging from the ceiling, and the fumoir bar now has (fake, Péclard laughs) brick walls hung with yet more art. The wine cellar for private parties stays, joined by a second, smaller cellar for two, and the hidden, shaded garden terrace remains one of the coolest spots in the city centre in summer.

Péclard and chef Ibi Ben Dhafer went to New York for menu inspiration: oriental mezze, Asian dumplings, pasta – the duck fettuccine sauce is made with a duck press – and meat and fish from the charcoal grill. Michele Agricola, previously at Heugümper, runs the enlarged open kitchen. Much of the wine is imported directly, which keeps the list affordable for Paradeplatz.
