September's New Openings — and Which Ones You Can Actually Book for an Event

Founded by ERS Productions GmbH on the back of more than ten years in media, communications and event management, Melodia bills itself as more than an event location — a room where music, food and hosting come together. Despite the name it sits about fifteen minutes east of Zürich, not in it. The hall is laid out flexibly around a stage, with professional lighting and sound, an LED wall and VIP lounge areas, so the same room can carry a wedding on Saturday and a company conference on Monday.

Live music is the centrepiece — international musicians play every Friday and Saturday from 21.00, with ticketed concerts running alongside — but the part worth booking around is Thursday's Melodia Business Circle, a members-only networking dinner for entrepreneurs, and a TV studio for interviews, recordings and social content that most event halls don't have lying around.

Private bookings are handled from one hand: decoration and room design, the cake, a camera team, a DJ, apéro and catering, with an event planner accompanying the whole thing. Three packages start at CHF 1,500 for exclusive use of the location, run to CHF 2,500–3,500 for a premium setup with LED wall and full light and sound, and up to CHF 4,500 and above for the VIP experience. Parking is free directly outside.

Best for: weddings, corporate conferences and milestone birthdays that want one room for the whole night rather than a rented corner of somewhere else.

Attica sits on the top floor of a building in Frauenfeld's eastern industrial quarter, with a view over nearly the whole town. It closed suddenly last winter after a dispute between its operators; Linizio Gastro Frauenfeld AG has since taken over, and the restaurant marked its return on 29 August with an apericena, a live saxophonist and an after-dark party.

The kitchen splits into a bisteccheria for steaks and a Mediterranean card, both cooked in view of the room, with a selection of Italian wines kept in its own wine room. At lunch there are two daily menus alongside the à la carte; by evening the room turns into a lounge, and on Fridays and Saturdays the night carries on after dinner with live music and dancing.

The detail that puts it on this list: a dedicated conference room for meetings and events, plus a business club, both attached to a rooftop restaurant rather than a hotel basement.

Best for: a half-day meeting that ends in dinner with a view, and client apéros that don't feel like they happened in a hotel.

Thirteen Auras takes over the address on the lakeside road through Bäch that was home to No80 Cafe Bar Lounge. The idea is a whole evening in one place — afterwork drinks, dinner with friends, a date or a special occasion — built around what the house calls Italian lightness with an international flair: signature cocktails, timeless classics, a wine and Champagne list, pinsa and Italian-inspired plates to share.

Beyond the evening trade there's a business lounge and a private dining table called The Table, with bookings already open for private parties, company events and Christmas dinners.

Best for: locking in a Christmas party date before the calendar fills up, or a private client dinner at The Table with the lake a few steps away. Opens 26 September.

After Rosi closed in 2025, Markus Stöckle has left its Bavarian focus behind for what he calls the most personal and creative chapter of his career. There are two twelve-course tasting menus, one vegetarian and one with meat, both 266 francs — Zürichsee felchen with doubanjiang made from fermented organic beans grown in the Zürcher Weinland, a clarified quail consommé, fermented vegetables after the Japanese fashion, and a reworked Älpler Makkaronen.

The house at Glockengasse 7 has taken in guests for some seven hundred years — Johann Caspar Lavater and Goethe were both among them, and the Goethe-Stübli upstairs still carries its original panelling. Milan's Studio Dragó has set red lacquered rooms downstairs against that older room above. The Goethe-Stübli also doubles as a private dining room, seating up to 12 — a real closed-door option most tasting-menu openings don't have on day one.

Best for: the client dinner that's meant to impress rather than just feed a group — book the Goethe-Stübli outright for a party of up to 12. Dinner only, Tuesday to Saturday from 18.30; lunch service is planned once the opening phase settles.

Der Wilde Kaiser spent months without a Beisl of its own, sending guests to its two sister houses while it searched for a new room. Beisl 2.0 is that room: the converted Sihl paper mill at Sihlcity, a building that also holds the Folium and Papiersaal event halls. Alongside the restaurant sit the Sissi Bar & Lounge, leaning on Viennese mixology and Austrian gins and spirits, a Schank, and a Würstelstand, with the Wiener Schnitzel treated as the kitchen's own test of itself.

Best for: a loud, long group dinner with proper Viennese Schmäh — and if the party outgrows the Beisl, the building's own Folium and Papiersaal halls are next door for anything bigger. Open Tuesday to Saturday, 11.00–23.30.

Where ANNA near Milchbuck is the restaurant Stefano Corrado and Maria Ventola's guests save up for, OTTO is built for the evenings in between — Corrado's own line is that you go to one once a month and to the other far more often. The room was a corner pub; its pizza oven stays, fired up in winter for bread and slow braises rather than pizza, since Zürich, as Corrado puts it, has pizzerias enough.

The card is à la carte, with handmade pasta in starter or main sizes, but at dinner the whole table can hand the choosing over to a menu sorpresa of three courses or four.

Best for: the team dinner you can actually repeat — hand the table to the menu sorpresa and it runs itself. A weekly quick lunch (Wednesday to Friday) covers smaller daytime bookings too.

Two friends with more than ten years in restaurants between them opened this large, white-tablecloth Italian ristorante and lounge in Glattbrugg on 1 September. The card runs from pizza and pasta — pasta alla Norma, the house Pizza Grano Antico — to grilled octopus and tagliata di manzo, with vegetarian and gluten-free options throughout, and the house explicitly takes birthdays, family celebrations and company events.

Best for: birthdays and company events that need an easy yes on dietary requirements, a few minutes from the airport corridor.

Kopfklang has run underground techno nights in its WERKHALLE for a while; what arrived on 5 September is the room rebuilt from the inside out — new sound, new light, new interior, across 500 square metres of pillar-free industrial architecture, raw concrete and steel, and room for 500 guests. Outside Kopfklang's own club nights, the hall is bookable as the WERKHALLE for concerts, corporate gatherings and private parties. Emmenbrücke is a fifteen-minute train from Luzern, so this one barely counts as a trip if you're already based there.

Best for: a corporate party that wants an actual club rather than a hotel ballroom with a DJ booth wheeled in — book the WERKHALLE side of the operation rather than a Saturday, if you want the room to yourselves.

The Smith & Smith family's Zürich wine bar takes its idea into the mountains, in its own register rather than a copy-paste: a curated list, honest advice, aperitivo and sharing plates rather than a full dinner, oysters by pre-order, and rotating bites from sister houses Swiss House, Biselli, Nooba and IGNIV. An events programme — guided tastings, winemaker evenings, DJ nights — is still being written, with dates yet to be announced.

Best for: a wine-led aperitivo if you're already in Andermatt for a ski or golf offsite. Worth a call ahead while the calendar is still open — an early ask might land the date before it's public.
