A private, chalet-style refuge for fine dining and events, tucked away in the middle of Luzern — genuinely exclusive, with a rare Saturday sitting open to guests.
Gourmetstube Luzern opened on August 13, 2026 at Lindenstrasse 13 — a log-built chalet on the slope above the city, run on three words its host keeps coming back to: "Genuss. Privatsphäre. Gastfreundschaft." (pleasure, privacy, hospitality).
The house is the work of one person. Host, caterer and Fine Dining by Schmitz founder Dominik Schmitz gutted and rebuilt the chalet himself over four months, doing the interiors and most of the outdoor areas by hand. The result is small on purpose: one table, up to ten people, and only ever one party on site at a time — no other guests, no passing traffic.
Inside, the Stube seats those ten at a single table, intimate enough for a private dinner and generous enough to hold a whole evening. Behind it sits a fully equipped professional kitchen with combi steamer, induction and grill, which you can hand to your own caterer or leave to Fine Dining by Schmitz.
Outside is where the chalet really opens up. A large terrace runs the length of the house into the garden, with several seating and lounge corners, a Feuerring grill for cooking over open flame, and quiet spots tucked between vegetable beds, wild herbs and edible flowers. Herbs, blossoms and vegetables from that garden go straight into the seasonal menus — it feels genuinely rural, and it's in the middle of Luzern.
It works for both halves of life: birthdays, family celebrations, anniversaries, small wedding dinners and evenings with friends, but equally board meetings, strategy workshops, client events and confidential business dinners that need somewhere quieter than a conference room. Dates are arranged individually and the house is closed on Mondays.
If you don't have an occasion to fill it with, the "Samstags zu Gast" evenings are the way in. Every Saturday the ten seats are sold individually rather than as a private booking, so singles, couples and small groups share one table. Everyone starts together at 6pm and the evening runs to 10.30pm at the latest: six courses, with both wine and alcohol-free pairings included. Reservation in advance is required.
