Zurich's Best Rooftop Terraces for Your Next Event

La Muña — Utoquai 45, at La Réserve Eden au Lac

A rooftop restaurant and bar right on the lake, with 360° views over the historic center, Lake Zurich and the Alps on a good day. The Peruvian-Japanese menu makes it feel like a destination in itself rather than just a nice backdrop.

Best for: milestone celebrations and client dinners where the view needs to do some of the talking.

1838 Rooftop Bar — Poststrasse 12, at Mandarin Oriental Savoy

The roof terrace of Zurich's first grand hotel, opened by Johannes Baur in 1838 and reborn in March 2024 as the Mandarin Oriental Savoy — the bar takes its name from that founding year. Citrus trees in pots, a green tiled wall and a canopied bar, five floors above Paradeplatz, with the Old Town roofs on one side and the Uetliberg on the other. Asian-leaning small plates and cocktails, roughly April to September.

Best for: apéros and summer receptions in the middle of the financial district, close enough that guests can walk over from the office.

SOHO Zurich — Hardstrasse 260, Zurich West

A modern, multifunctional venue with a rooftop bar and dedicated event space in the heart of District 5. Panoramic views over the rooftops of Zurich West, with enough flexibility to run a private party and a more structured event in the same building. The terrace has a retractable roof, so a summer booking doesn't live or die by the forecast.

Best for: product launches and brand events that want an industrial-meets-polished setting.

Rigiblick Terrace — Germaniastrasse 99, at Sorell Hotel Rigiblick

Set above the city center and reached by its own funicular, this terrace has one of the more dramatic views in Zurich — skyline, lake and Alps all in one frame. It has a quieter, more residential feel than the rooftops closer to Bahnhofstrasse, and the kitchen carries a Bib Gourmand.

Best for: smaller private dinners and events where guests should be able to actually hear each other talk.

Helvetia Rooftop — Stauffacherquai 1, at Hotel Helvetia

A small, well-kept secret above the Sihl at Stauffacher, on the seam between the Langstrasse quarter and Kreis 1. Blue rattan furniture, striped parasols and a 360° view over the city rooftops. From May to September it opens for private events only — which makes it one of the very few rooftops in Zurich you can genuinely have to yourself.

Best for: apéros and summer parties for a smaller group that wants the whole roof, not a corner of it.

Roof Garden — Schweizergasse 11, on top of Globus

On the fifth floor of the Globus department store, this rooftop feels like a green oasis dropped into the middle of the city, with a wraparound planted terrace and a French-Mediterranean menu. It has its own entrance and stays open past store hours.

Best for: after-work events and summer parties for groups who want to be in the thick of the city, not above it.

George Bar & Grill — Sihlstrasse 50, Penthouse of Haus Ober

An elegant rooftop on the fifth floor of Haus Ober, spread across several rooms plus a long planted terrace, with farm-fresh cooking and a serious cocktail list. Feels dressier than most of the rooftops on this list.

Best for: corporate dinners and celebrations where you want a more formal, polished atmosphere.

LUX Terrace — Gotthardstrasse 5, at Kongresshaus Zürich

The terrace above the Kongresshaus garden-hall wing, a floor up from the Tonhalle, with one of the widest open views of Lake Zurich and the Alps you can get without leaving the city. It is large, and it is attached directly to the Kongresshaus meeting rooms — so a conference can move upstairs for the apéro without anyone leaving the building.

Best for: conference apéros and large summer receptions that need capacity as well as a view.

Hiltl Dachterrasse — Bahnhofstrasse 88

Run by Hiltl, the world's oldest vegetarian restaurant, but on its own roof above Bahnhofstrasse rather than the original house on Sihlstrasse. Two green terraces overlooking the city — a good option for groups with mixed dietary preferences who still want a proper rooftop setting.

Best for: team dinners and workshops that want a relaxed, central location with easy transport links.

SILO Rooftop Bar, Event and Gallery — Kemptpark 12, Kemptthal

A genuinely unusual venue: the first silo built by Julius Maggi in 1937, converted into a rooftop bar and event space that mixes industrial history with modern design and countryside views.

Best for: groups who want something that photographs like nowhere else, and don't mind a short trip outside the city center.
