Strick Schnack

Corinne and Romina Leuenberger, mother and daughter, have opened a knitting café near the Badischer Bahnhof — coffee and cake at secondhand tables, a short shelf of carefully chosen yarns, and courses for anyone who wants to learn.

The idea came from Copenhagen, on a visit to a knitting café called Woolstock. Strick Schnack opened on 8 August 2026 on Schönaustrasse, a few minutes from the Badischer Bahnhof, as one of the first knitting cafés in Switzerland. The room is small on purpose and furnished secondhand, and the food is organic and regional.

People come to knit, to learn, or simply for a coffee. The shop side keeps a deliberately short range — yarns the two work with and wear themselves, chosen for character, feel and current colours — along with knitting and crochet needles, accessories and vouchers. Every Wednesday from 19:00 to 21:30 there is an open craft table: bring whatever you are knitting, crocheting, embroidering or sewing by hand and work on it alongside others, no course required. Courses run too — a two-evening class on the Sophie Scarf in October filled up and now has a waiting list — alongside readings and seasonal evenings such as an Advent wreath workshop in November.
