The Ski Lodge

The Ski Lodge
Directions

A 36-room boutique hotel opens a hundred metres from Verbier's Place Centrale this December – modelled on the old Valais mayens, with a spa, a New York-style bistro and a vinyl bar.

The Ski Lodge opens in December 2026 on Route de la Poste, about 100 metres from the Place Centrale. It is independently owned by Frédéric Mydske, the developer behind the Swiss aparthotel brand BASE, who grew up skiing in Verbier; the general manager, Joséphine Rausis, grew up in the valley below.

London designer Sophie Kogevinas took the interiors from the mayens, the old Valais summer huts – aged larch, stone and natural materials throughout. There are 36 rooms, from Cosy rooms to two Mountain Suites with terraces; many have a bunk nook above the king-size bed, and the south-facing suites look out to the Grand Combin. There are deliberately no televisions in the rooms.

The spa has an indoor pool, a cold plunge, a Japanese onsen jacuzzi, a sauna, a hammam and three treatment rooms, with a fitness room on the top floor. The restaurant, The Peak, and the bar, The Listening Room, are both open to non-residents. The hotel runs two seasons: December to the end of April, and early June to the end of September.

**Best for:** a ski week where the spa matters as much as the slopes.
